Talk to Effigy (map) at the tower of life just south east of Ardougne. After talking to him go to the builders just north east and talk to Bonafido the head builder. He'll tell you that he isn't going to build unless he gets some answers. If you dress like a builder you'll get access to the tower.
Talk to 'Black-eye' and ask for a helmet. He'll ask you some construction questions:
How many nails do you need to construct a rocking chair?
Answer: 3
What needs 3 nails, 3 bolts of cloth, 3 planks and keeps the light out?
Answer: torn curtains
What is needed to construct a place for my fishes in my garden?
Answer: 10 clay pieces
When you answered all questions correct you'll get a hard hat.
Now talk to 'Gummy' he'll tell you he lost some cloths in the storm. Go around the tower to the back there will be three plants search the middle to get Builder's trousers.
Go to 'The Guns' and ask for his shirt. He'll tell you to get a beer from Yanille but any beer will do (closest pub is in North-West Ardougne). Get him a beer to get a Builder's shirt.
Go to 'No fingers' and talk to him, he'll not give you his boots. Pickpocket him until you get Builder's boots.
Talk to Bonafido again he'll ask you some questions:
You've plenty of work to do but you need a drink fast - what do you go for?
Answer: Tea

Answer: Your legs are getting a bit cold
Now the last question - what do you do if you cut your finger?
Answer: Carry on, it'll fix itself.
Enter the tower of life. All items need to fix the machines in the tower are found on the bottom floor in the crates.
To fix the pressure machine you'll need 4 coloured balls, 3 pieces of metal sheeting and 4 valve wheels. Search the crate just south of the stairs to get coloured balls. Search the crate behind the stairs to get metal sheeting. Search the crate at the east to get valve wheels.
Go up to the first floor and repair the Pressure machine. You'll have to put the balls out into the holes.
Follow these steps (x means how many times you need to do it):
2x -Turn 1 left.
-Pull left lever.
2x -Turn 2 left.
-Pull right lever.
2x -Turn 3 right.
-Turn 3 left.
-Pull left lever.
3x -Turn 4 right.
-Turn 4 left.
3x -Turn 4 right.
5x -Turn 1 right.
-Pull left lever.
4x -Turn 2 right.
-Pull right lever
4x -Turn 3 right.
Fixed the machine.
To fix the pipe machine you'll need: 6 rivets, 4 metal pipes and 5 metal rings. Collect the items at the bottom floor.
The rivits can be found in the second chest east of the entrance. The pipes can be found in the crate just west of the entrance. The metal rings can be found in the crate just east of the entrance.
Go up to the second floor and fix the pipe machine. Click on the pipe part you want to move and use the arrows to move it.to where you want it.
Note: the pipes only fit in the correct position.
In words: From left to right. The bended pipe with 2 exit points. A bended pipe. The complicated pipe rotated 2 times. The T shaped pipe collected with a bended pipe.
To fix the cage you'll need 5 metal bars and 4 bottles of binding fluid. Collect the items at the bottom floor.
Metal bars can be found in the second crate to the west of the entrance. Binding fluid can be found in the second crate from the south.
Go up to the third floor and fix the cage. You'll have to fit the bars. With the + and - buttons you can resize the bar and with the place bar button you can place it if it fits somewhere on the image.
On the first screen place:

Go to the next screen by pressing the right arrow.
On the second screen place:

Go to the next screen by pressing the right arrow.
On the third screen place:

Now you've fixed the cage go down and talk to Effigy. Effigy will go to the top of the tower and forget about you. Go to the top of the tower of life, you'll see a cutscene.
Go down again to Effigy and talk to him. Go back to the top of the tower, and talk to Homunculus. Homuculus is confused he should either chose the world of logic or the world of magic.
Answer his questions with answers related to the world of magic or the world of logic, choose one side it doesn't matter but stick with it.

Go down to Effigy and talk to him there will be a cutscene. Now you need to go to the dungeon under the tower. Go down the trapdoor at the east side of the tower.
Go north and talk to Homuculus to finish the quest.
