Prayer is a useful combat skill were you call upon the powers of the gods. It does various things to help you in combat. It can make you stronger or protect you from either mage, range or melee. Training prayer is either very fast or very slow it depends on the amount of money you got.

Prayers and basic info
To get to the prayer menu you must click on the prayer sign and it will bring up the prayer menu.
When using prayer skills they will use up prayer points, some prayers more than others. You can recharge your prayer at altars found all over RuneScape. When fully recharged you got as much prayer points as your level.
There are a lot of different sorts of prayers you can use. You can only use one stat raising skill for each combat skill, for example; you can't use Rock Skin and Thick skin at the same time but you can use Burst of Strength and Thick skin at the same time.

Bones
Bones are the core of prayer, bones are used to level up your prayer. You can get bones from killing monsters, a lot of monsters drop bones as a 100% drop.

Zorge Bones (members only)
These are the best bones in Runescape but are hard to obtain. To get these bones you you should have completed Zogre Flash Eaters. To obtain these bones you must kill zombie and skeleton ogres in Jiggig and take the ogre coffin key they drop. Then use that key on a coffin in the tomb, you'll get a random bone (Fayrg, Raurg or Ourg) from the coffin.

Prayer restoring items (members only)
There are a few items that restore prayer, these items can be very useful for pking, dueling, training at strong monsters and quest monsters.

Ghasts (members only)
You must have completed the Nature Spirit Quest. You will need your Silver Sickle (b) and a druid pouch. To kill the Ghast you first need to get your druid pouch filled, use 'cast bloom' from your sickle by fungus. When a Ghast attacks you your filled pouch will make it attackable or you could use your druid pouch on it for the same effect. Then you can fight the level 30 Ghast, once killed he'll give you 30 Prayer Exp.
Cremating (members only)
After completing the Shades of Mort'ton quest you can do the Shades of Mort'ton mini game. Creamating is a fun way to get your prayer up.

Prayer Books (members only)
To get a Prayer book you must have completed the Horror From the Deep quest. Each book requires four pages of either Guthix, Saradomin or Zamorack. You can either buy them from players or get the pages from doing clue scrolls (you can get them at all clue scroll levels).

Ectofuntus (members only)
To start this you should have started the Ghost Ahoy quest, completing it is recommend for the ectophial and it's useful to wear a ghost speak amulet (from the Restless Ghost quest). This is one of the best ways to level up your prayer but it can get very boring really fast. For every bone you will get 4 times the exp.
Before starting this you should have a fair amount of bones, any type of bone will work but it's best to take dragon bones (or other good bones). Go to Port Phasmatys Bank and get 12 bones and 12 pots. Go to Ectofuntus Tower just north (outside), you can use the ectophial to teleport to the tower to speed things up (remember to refill at the Ectofuntus). When you get there walk up the stairs, go to the Bone Grinder and right click your bones and then use it on the grinder. Next wind up the bone grinder to get bone meal. Then use your pots on the grinder to get the bone meal. Once you have filled all the pots, go back to bank and get 12 buckets. Return to the tower and go down the trap door to the west. Then go down as many stairs as you can till you get to the bottom of the room. Use your buckets on the green slime and go back up or use ectophail your (remember to recharge). Then right click the Ectofuntus and worship it. Now you can repeat the process.
Altars (members only)
This is by far the best way to level up your prayer, the altars can be made using construction. It's best to do it at a gilded altar. To find gilded altars you should look on the forums for a topic saying 'open gilded altar' and usually they will light the burners so you only have to use your bones on the altar. If the burners are lit and it is a gilded altar you will get 350% more exp, that means about 250 exp per d bone and about 250k exp per hour.

Random Events - Random Events Guide
While burying bones you may get a random event. A zombie of level 30-159 depending on your level. A shade of level 30-159 depending on your level and it may drop shade robes. Also the Grave Digger random event this event is a little rare but if you get it you will have to go Grave Robbing and could get a new emote or a zombie outfit.
Wise Old Man
We all know that this guy is crazy but he is very helpful for new players who want to get prayer up. He will have you perform simple tasks like get him a bronze axe and in exchange he will give you a random amount of exp (not only prayer). You can find him in his house next to the draynor bank.
Prayer skill cape (members only)
When you've got 99 prayer you can buy the skill cape at Brother Jered for 99k (99000 gp).
