Main Forum Page, (Pre-Member Login). Explained.
There is not much of a difference in the members and the free players version of the forums, but the little differences that they have still make them very different from each other.
To look in the many types of forum subjects to talk about, all you have to do is click on the respective subject. It will take you there, showing up to 50 pages of different topics. The topics are arranged from page one being the most used, to page 50 being either completely filled up topics (2000 posts), locked and/or hidden topics, and the old and un-used.
Reading A Subject When Not Logged On.

Green Circle: You can jump to a different forum (subject) right from this drop down menu.
Orange Circle: The subject you are currently in.
Red Circle: Forum Specific Rules. Absolutely must be followed or you may risk getting banned from the forums or even all together.
Yellow Circle: Active users in just the current subject.
Brown Circle: Refresh button, do not use the one on your browser it will send u back to the RS Home Page, use this one instead.
Blue Circle: Who the topic was created by.
Pink Circle: Number of posts in the topic at a glance.

Reading A Subject When Not Logged On. Explained.
In the subject it shows all of the topics that everyone has posted on that particular one. From here you can click on any topic that you would like to read more into. Here is a picture of what that looks like.
Top Part of Topic Page

Red Circle: This Area shows the path of where you are. As you can see it shows you where you are (RS Forums) what subject you are in (click on it to go back to subject page) and the topic you are in.
Yellow Circle: This is not normally bleeped out but for legal purposes it is in this guide. This part shows the writer of the specific post.
Green Circle: When the post was originally posted on to the topic.
Blue Circle: When it was last updated (edited) (date and time)
Pink Circle: The main area that the message is posted in.
Bottom Part of Topic Page

Pink Circle: Messages of other people looking at the thread.
Red Circle: Once Again the path to the topic you are looking at.
Blue Circle: The Page you are on and how many pages there is (200 max, that’s 10 posts per page).
Green Circle: The Quick Find Code to the topic you are looking at.
Brown Circle: Links to Terms & Conditions and the Jagex Privacy Policy.
Although you may not post on the forums as a free player, they still may be very helpful in the buying/selling of items and just looking to read a good story, and look for a clan that accepts f2p (free to play) players.
Now for the members version…this on will not include anything that is shown above…it will only contain the things you can do extra as a member in using the forums.
To log into the forums use the green link on the top right side of the page that says, “Login (Members Only).”
Here is the log in screen it is just basic and does not include much of anything at all.

This quickly shows up if you successfully login to the forums:

This is the second screen that shows up after you log in.

Red Circle: The account you are logged into the forums with.
Yellow Circles: The forum code of conduct.
Blue Circle: Click “Enter the Forums” to get to the subjects in the RS Forums.
After you click on this you get to the main subjects area that was shown above. There is no difference between them in anyway.
Now to make a topic in a specific subject.

Click where it says “Create New Thread” (red circle) this will bring you to this screen.

First you must add a title that you would like your topic to have that area is shown in red (it has a max of 30 characters {letters, numbers, and some ASCII symbols}). Under that you add first post of the topic which is always controlled by the creator of the topic. And for a little added fun Jagex has also incorporated smiles into the posting.
When you create your own topic it will look like this.

You can bump your own thread by clicking the “Bump Thread” link circled in red (you can only do it once every 10 minutes.) Also you can edit your posts by clicking the link circled in green. To reply to a topic click the “Reply” button circled in blue.
If you would like to see all the areas you have posted in go to the main forum page and look at the top near the center, the link is called “My Profile,” the following picture is what it contains.

Clicking the button circled in red you can turn of smiles so you will only see the symbols and not them themselves. In the green area it will tell you how many posts you have made to this date (this has only been reset for me once, I am not sure why but I started from zero again but it’s been over a year and it hasn’t happened again.) In the blue it tells you the name of the topic you posted at and the forum it is in (they only appear in here if the topic still exists) (blocked for privacy reasons)
Well that is about it for how to use the Official RuneScape Forums. I will now tell you how to use one of the more important things that the RuneScape Forums contain.
When on the page where it lists all of the main topics, click on the “General” subject, in this click on the “Forum Emergencies” on the top of the list. Here is what this topic looks like when opened.

Here it gives the specifics about what this topic is about and gives you the official form (circled in red) to fill out when you see a rule breaker on the forums. (Rules are in Forum Code of Conduct)
That is all there is for this guide thanks for reading it I hope it helped you out!
